Published research areas
Fields in which this compound appears in the published literature. These describe where the research sits, not what it concluded.
- Cardiolipin binding
- The mechanism most of the structural literature examines, and what distinguishes this compound from other short peptides.
- Mitochondrial function
- Investigated in cell and animal models examining mitochondrial bioenergetics.
- Structural and biophysical work
- Four residues makes it small enough for detailed conformational study, including in membrane-mimetic systems.
What the analysis should cover
- Identity by mass spectrometry. At four residues the mass measurement is unambiguous, which makes its absence from a certificate harder to excuse rather than easier.
- Purity by HPLC with the chromatogram reproduced, and method conditions stated — very short peptides are weakly retained, so the gradient shapes the number.
- Net peptide content. Short sequences carry proportionally more counterion mass, so the gap between weighed mass and peptide mass is wider here than for a large peptide.
- Salt form and residual counterion, for the same reason.
How to read a certificate of analysis covers what each of these measurements establishes.
Handling and stability
- Supplied freeze-dried and sealed.
- Residual moisture is the best single predictor of how long sealed material keeps.
- Stored cold, dry and dark in the container as supplied.
Why peptides ship freeze-dried sets out the reasoning behind these conditions.
Supplied by us
A mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide, freeze-dried and sealed in a 10mg vial. Studied in cardiolipin-binding and mitochondrial-function research, and suited to quantitative assay and structural work. Every lot ships with its own certificate of analysis.
